Trash to Treasure

Last Saturday, my nephew  Timothy captured these photos of this female Boat-tailed Grackle as she searched for food among trash from the neighboring dumpster, then soaring to safety with her treasure.

I was immediately reminded of  parts of my life that I thought were trash, broken, and useless but were turned into soaring usefulness, beauty, and treasure, by my loving Heavenly Father. For that, I joined the Psalmist David in proclaiming:
“You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever”! ~ Psalm 30:11-12

Unexpected

This red fox was not only an unexpected, but a first time sighting on my recent 6:00am field trip with the
Virginia Beach Audubon Society.  All birds stayed too distant to capture.
Not this fox. It remained close and posed graciously for all.
I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. ~ Psalm 50:12

Another Bird Treat

Walking is one of my favorite pastimes, especially when I am accompanied by my nine year old great nephew Cairon. Not only does he exude endless energy as a
budding footballer, but has the keenest eyes for spotting birding treats. We both enjoyed this Kildeer Plover

as it posed for for us first with a  Canada Goose, then with a Double-crested Cormorant, and hope that you will also.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams~ Psalms 23:2

Canada Geese Family

I am not sure how long the nest was there, but within a few days of my observing, a family was formed. It seemed only one gosling survived. I hope you enjoy the progression as much as I did.
“For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine”. ~ Psalm 50:10-11.
